Setup Method
In this section, we'll show you how to use the Shopify app "RuffRuff Order Bonus" to give away a free gift.
Before You Start: Set Up the App
If you've already installed and set up "RuffRuff Order Bonus," please skip ahead to Step 1.
Step 1: Enable the Embedded App
(1) From the setup guide on the app's Home page, click "Enable app in theme"
(2) Select the Shopify theme you want to add the app to from the dropdown
(3) Click "Enable app"
(4) Enable "RuffRuff Order Bonus" on the left side of the theme editor
(5) Change the design and text of the gift widget
(6) Click "Save" at the top right of the screen
Step 2: Create a Gift Campaign That Gives Away a Free Gift for 3 or More Items
(1) Click "Gifts" from the app's left-hand menu
(2) Click "Create campaign" from the gift campaigns list page
(3) Enter any name for the campaign
- Internal name: The name used to manage the gift campaign within the app
- Public name: The name of the gift product shown to customers
(4) In the display settings, enter any description text
- Title: The campaign title shown in the gift widget
- Description: The detailed campaign description shown in the gift widget
(5) Set the period you want to run the campaign for in the active dates
(6) In the eligibility conditions, add a "Cart item quantity" condition
(7) Configure the following for the cart item quantity condition
- Select "Is greater than or equal to" and enter 3
- Select "Specific product" and choose the target product
(8) In the gift settings, configure the product and quantity to give away as the free gift
(9) Check the distribution method (the default is "Use settings page configuration." If your store's automatic add-to-cart setting is on, the gift is automatically added to the cart when the conditions are met. If you'd prefer manual addition via a button click, select "Manual")
(10) Click "Save"
(11) Click "Activate"
Step 3: Test That the Free Gift Is Distributed
(1) Add the target product to the cart so there are 2 or fewer
(2) Since the condition isn't met, confirm that no gift has been added to the cart
(3) Add the target product to the cart so there are 3 or more
(4) Confirm that once the condition is met, the gift is automatically added to the cart
