For cumulative quantity rules and cumulative price rules, orders that go over the limit without being stopped at checkout are now detected when totals are counted and marked "Review required" on the order. Purchases made before a total update lands, and checkouts completed at the same time, can now be caught afterwards.
Key features
- Orders whose total goes over the limit after counting are marked "Review required" (both cumulative quantity rules and cumulative price rules)
- Orders containing items that couldn't be added to the total because the customer's breakdown was at its cap of 250 entries are also marked "Review required"
- The Cumulative purchase limits block on the order page shows the rule name, the items involved, and the limit and total used for the check
- Record "Mark as action taken" or "Mark as no action needed" from the block, along with the date and the staff member who recorded it (you can also "Return to review required")
- Filter your order list by the "Cumulative purchase limits status" metafield (manual_review_required = review required / manual_review_resolved = reviewed)
Things to note when using this feature
- The Cumulative purchase limits block doesn't appear on the order page just by installing the app. Add it from the list of blocks on the order page and pin it.
- Detection happens when totals are counted. It doesn't stop the order at checkout.
- The limit used for the check is the rule's value at the time the order was counted. Changing the rule's limit later doesn't change what the block shows.
- Orders aren't recorded as over the limit while a rule is disabled (items that couldn't be added to the total because of the 250-entry cap are recorded regardless of the rule's state).
- The record remains after an order is canceled. Only actions in the block change it to reviewed.
- Filtering by the metafield may be unavailable right after you enable the feature, while the index is being built.
Cumulative purchase limits are a Full plan feature. Go to "Cumulative Quantity Rules" under the "Quantity Limits" menu, or "Cumulative Price Rules" under the "Price Limits" menu.
