You can set the scope of products that can be ordered together.
If there are products you don't want customers to order together — such as "a pre-order item and a regular item" or "a pre-order item and another pre-order item" — you can restrict them from being added to the cart together, or restrict the transition from the cart page to the checkout page.
You can also display a custom alert message, set by your store, when the button is clicked.
