We've added "Active dates" to cumulative quantity rules and cumulative price rules in RuffRuff Order Limits. You can now reset totals on a schedule or limit purchases to a set date range.
Key points
- You can create rules such as "up to 5 per month", "reset totals on April 1 every year", and "limit only during a campaign".
- This applies to stores that use cumulative quantity rules or cumulative price rules (Full plan).
- Existing rules continue to track "All time". No setting changes are required.
Before and after
The range counted toward the totals, and what appears in the admin and on the order page, change as follows.
| Item | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Range counted toward the totals | All purchases since the rule was created (no reset) | In addition to "All time", you can choose a reset each cycle or set a date range |
| Rule list | The "Tracking period" column shows when tracking started and stopped | An "Active dates" column is added. When tracking started and stopped now appears in the "Tracking started – stopped" column |
| The "Cumulative purchase limits" block on the order page | Shows the limit and the totals | For rules that reset, also shows the start date of the period used to decide that the limit was exceeded |
How to use
- Open the screen for creating a cumulative quantity rule or a cumulative price rule.
- Under "Active dates", check "Reset totals on a schedule" or "Set a date range", whichever you need.
- Review the settings and save the rule.
If you check neither, tracking stays "All time", the same as before. You can use both at the same time (for example, reset every month and limit through the end of March 2027).
Reset totals on a schedule
When the totals reset, they return to 0, and customers can purchase up to the limit again in the next period. Choose "Daily", "Monthly on the 1st", or "Yearly on January 1", or choose "Custom" and set "Interval", "Unit", and "Cycle start date".
- Choose "Days", "Weeks", "Months", or "Years" for the unit.
- Totals reset at each interval counted from the "Cycle start date". For "Weeks", they reset on the same day of the week as the cycle start date.
- If the "Cycle start date" is the 31st or another day that a month does not have, totals reset on the last day of that month. In a year without February 29, they reset on February 28.
- The maximum interval is 365 for "Days", 52 for "Weeks", 12 for "Months", and 5 for "Years".
Set a date range
The limit and tracking apply only during the date range you set. "Start date" and "Start time" are required. If you check "Set end date", you can also set an end date and time. The end time itself is not included in the range.
Eligible stores
- Eligible: Stores on the Full plan that can use cumulative quantity rules and cumulative price rules
- Not eligible: Rules other than cumulative quantity rules and cumulative price rules (such as quantity, price, and customer-group rules)
Effect on existing settings
Existing rules are treated as "All time" and continue to work as before. Totals that have already been tracked are still used. In the list, the former "Tracking period" column becomes the "Tracking started – stopped" column.
Action for merchants
No setting changes are required. To use a schedule or a date range, create a new rule. You cannot add "Active dates" to an existing rule later.
Effective date
October 21, 2026
Limitations
- Active dates can't be changed after tracking starts: "Active dates" are a condition of tracking. To change them, stop the rule and create a new one.
- Purchases before the rule is created are not counted: Even if you set the start date and time in the past, purchases made before you create the rule are not tracked. The first period of a rule that resets is also tracked from the time you create the rule.
- Orders outside the date range are not counted later: Even if you recreate the rule with a different date range, orders that were outside the "Active dates" are not tracked.
- Rules do not stop automatically after the end date: A rule whose end date and time has passed stays in place but no longer limits or tracks purchases. If you no longer need it, stop it and then delete it.
- Boundaries use the shop time zone: If you change the time zone, or if a boundary falls on a daylight saving time change, limits may be applied slightly off around the boundary.
- "Last N days" tracking is not supported: An interval of N "Days" splits time at a fixed interval from the "Cycle start date". It is not the N days counted back from the order date.
- Cancellations from the previous period are not subtracted: Canceling an order from the previous period does not reduce the current period's totals.
